Wall painting competition held in Abbottabad

ABBOTTABAD: Over 200 students from across the country and local educational institutions took part in a daylong wall-painting contest titled ‘street art competition’ here on Sunday.

Four different spots were selected by the district administration and the tehsil council, which included Karakoram Highway, Jinnah Road opposite the high court building and Mandian.

Speaking on the occasion, deputy commissioner Fayaz Ali Shah said that in the past the walls of the city were covered with wall chalking, giving a bad look. He said now through the competitions, these walls would be painted by artists from all over the country. “Our history will be preserved with pictures of our national heroes who played major role in creation of Pakistan, providing a source of inspiration to the youth,” he said.

At least 60 teams, including varsity students, took part in the competition.

Tehsil nazim Ishaque Zakria, assistant commissioner Usman Ashraf and other officials were also present on the occasion.

Results of successful teams will be announced after 15 days and prizes will be distributed among the winners.
