Empowerment of women through education stressed

SWABI: Speakers at a gathering said here on Sunday that the provincial government’s support to the Women University Swabi (WUS) for promotion of education and women’s empowerment was highly important.

The comments were made during the visit of Manzoor Ahmad, secretary Higher Education, Archives and Libraries Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, to WUS. Prof Khanzadi Fatima Khattak, WUS vice-chancellor, administrative officers and faculty members of various departments attended the gathering.

The speakers said that without education it might be difficult for the women to achieve desired status in the society.

Mr Ahmad said that the provincial government was giving great importance to girls education and the establishment of WUS was a clear example of the government’s commitment in this regard. He said that the number of girl students had been increasing in schools, colleges and universities.

The secretary visited the construction site of the university at Kotha area and showed satisfaction over the progress of work. He planted a tree on the campus and prayed for development of the university.

Prof Khattak maintained that the university was committed to empowering girls through quality education and research activities. She stated that the academia had been advised to inculcate values such as social responsibility and empathy among the students so that they could play their role for the betterment of society.

CONFERENCE: Syed Salahuddin, commander of Hizbul Mujahedeen, has said that the US and its western allies wanted to strengthen Israel and India to harm the Muslim Ummah and grab its resources.

Addressing a conference here in Razaar tehsil, he said that the Muslims could come out of the foreign powers’ domination through Jihad. He said that war continued in Afghanistan, Kashmir, Palestine, Iraq, Yemen and other Muslim regions, but despite that the rulers of Muslim countries failed to understand the conspiracy against them.
