Our neighbourhood

WE live in Clifton Block 2, at a stone’s throw away from Bilawal House but the prevailing conditions are worse than in any other locality. Let me tell you what’s going on: In our complex, from day one, we have not received even a drop of water. We regularly buy tankers for daily use and drinking water separately. We have received a bill from the water board to pay Rs 75,000 within 10 days or the apartment will be confiscated and the owner arrested.

Besides water, you can’t even walk a yard without fear of falling into an open manhole or an overflowing gutter. Right next to the AKU health centre is a mosque and next to it an encroached amenity plot which was cleverly usurped. This plot had a plaque which said it was inagurated by the chief minister for schools and colleges. At first the plaque was blackened, and then a wall was built around it to show it was in possession.

The other issue is garbage which is regularly thrown on the roads as there is no management process.

Who should we hold responsible for this: The chief minsiter, mayor, former President Asif Ali Zardari or his son?

The location is quite interesting as we have the PPP on one side and the PTI on the other. President Arif Alvi himself came to our complex for votes and I am sad to say that I am disappointed.

When the PTI says that Shahbaz Sharif did nothing for Lahore, they deserve good shaking. Despite the PTI’s recent bad governance, Lahore is 10 times better than Karachi.
