Six CDA officials promoted to grade 20

ISLAMABAD: Six CDA officers will be promoted to grade 20.

The officers whose promotions have been approved by the Departmental Promotion Committee of the interior ministry on Wednesday are Humayun Akhtar, Sajjad Zaidi, Hafiz Ehsanul Haq, Dr Shahid Mahmood, Azeem Shah and Riaz Ahmed Randhawa.

In August, the CDA had referred the promotion cases to its parent ministry then, the Capital Administration and Development Division, which was later abolished and the civic agency was placed under the control of the interior ministry.

It has been common practice under successive governments to appoint officers from other departments, in some cases grade 19 officers, as CDA members in grade 20 positions.

In rare cases, CDA officers get a chance to serve as regular members in their own organisations.

The incumbent CDA Member Engineering, Dr Ahmed Baksh is a grade 19 officer from the NHA. Four CDA engineers have now been promoted to grade 20.

Several months ago, officers of the CDA engineering wing had filed a case against the member saying that he is a junior officer appointed by an interim government. However, the Supreme Court rejected their plea and said it is the prerogative of the federal government to appoint a member.
