Encroachments removed

UPPER DIR: The district administration has demolished illegal structures here in Patrak and Kalkot areas during an anti-encroachment campaign.

Assistant commissioner, Sheringal, Ali Raza Shah along with Levies personnel visited the Kalkot and Patrak areas and demolished illegally constructed buildings along the roads. They also demolished encroachments made on the graveyard land in Patrak. The elders of Patrak had held a meeting with deputy commissioner Irfan Mehsud a few days ago and requested him to take action against encroachments on the graveyard land. He had assured them of taking action.

Meanwhile, benevolent fund’s cheques of retired employees were handed over to them. Mr Mehsud gave the cheques to the recently-retired servants of various departments. Cheques were also given to widows of the employees who had died during service.

KILLED: A lender was killed and his friend injured on Tuesday when a borrower opened fire on them after he was asked to return the debt amount in Dir city, police said.

They said that Husan Bacha, a resident of Sakhakot, had lent some money to Attaullah, a resident of Shaw, Dir.

They said that when Bacha and his friend reached Attaullah’s house to ask for returning the amount he opened fire on them, leaving both injured. They were taken to the district headquarters hospital, Dir, where Bacha succumbed to his injuries.

Police registered an FIR and have started investigation.
