Siraj asks govt to clarify whether Aasia is in country

SWABI: Jamaat-i-Islam chief Sirajul Haq said on Sunday that the government should explain in clear terms whether Aasia Bibi was in Pakistan or she had been sent abroad.

He was speaking to his party leaders after enquiring after JI district chief Mehmoodul Hassan here at Yar Hussain village.

He said that Aasia Bibi was acquitted in a blasphemy case on the day when Prime Minister Imran Khan said that there would be no compromise on the decisions of Supreme Court. “The Supreme Court’s decision in Aasia Bibi case is not acceptable to people which is clear from the subsequent protests,” he said.

Mr Haq said that people across the country had staged protest demonstrations against the verdict, demanding its review and establishment of full bench for hearing of the case. He said that JI would continue its campaign to educate people about their religion and duties. He said that Islamic system was the only panacea for all the social ills.

The JI chief said that the change promised by Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf could not be seen during the first 70 days of its government. “The PTI has failed to take even a single step for Islamisation of the country’s system,” he said. The hike in prices has made the life of people miserable, he said, adding that the entire burden had been shifted to poor section of the society.
