Old NED campus

THE old campus of NED university, situated on Burnes Road, Karachi, offers engineering in just two disciplines, viz., architecture technology and development science. The condition of the campus is like other neglected education institutions run by the government.

Its entrance has no pavement; there are no arrangements for drinking water, wash rooms, sports clubs and a cafeteria. Students mostly stay in the university for long hours until the sunset to complete their assignments.

There is only one-point bus for about 300 students, and this goes round the city to pick and drop students, wasting the students’ time. Commuting to the old campus in the downtown is generally very agonising for students, their parents and those living in the new campus hostel.

There is also no arrangement for collecting monthly tuition fees at the old campus, as this is collected at the new campus only. Isn’t it a punishment for seeking admission to the old campus?

On the other hand, the new NED campus at Gulshan-i-Iqbal is well-equipped. There is a need for providing similar facilities to the other groups of students.
