Talks only solution to Yemen conflict: PM

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that using force is not a solution to Yemen conflict which has affected regional peace and stability.

He said this while talking to Yemen’s Ambassador Mohammed Motahar Alashabi, who paid a courtesy call on him on Wednesday to convey felicitations of Yemeni leadership on his election.

The prime minister emphasised on engaging all parties in a dialogue and opening channels of humanitarian assistance for the people suffering from a famine-like situation in the country.

Mr Alashabi briefed the prime minister on the latest situation in his war-ravaged country.

PM Khan reciprocated the sentiments of Yemeni leadership and wished for an early end to hostilities for lasting peace in Yemen, which was key to regional and global peace.

He called for concerted and coordinated efforts at global level to alleviate the suffering of Yemeni people and to ensure their safe return to their homes.

The ambassador conveyed best wishes for the success of Mr Khan’s government to achieve the goal of building a prosperous, progressive and forward-looking Pakistan.
