Pakistan moral crisis

PAKISTAN stands at 117 in global ranking on the Transparency International Index of Corruption. This should come as no surprise.

The nation has learnt to put up with adulteration of food, spurious medicines, sectarian violence, the persecution of minorities, honour killings and jirgas, chaotic traffic, plagiarism in higher education institutions, nepotism and favoritism, and in Karachi ‘China cutting’ (encroachment on public land and selling it as plots).

The result is the breakdown of moral order in Pakistani society.

This nation has to stop and take a deep breath. It has to ponder how to get out of the mess we have landed ourselves in. The best prescription for that is to adopt the ethics and values of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
