ISLAMABAD: An official of the United Nations was found dead in bathroom of his residence in F-6 on Monday, police said.

Mark Adams, 58, an Australian, was a security officer of UN’s International Organization for Migration (UNIOM) in Pakistan.

He was living on a rent in a three-portion house. A diplomat’s family and the owner of the house are residing in the other two portions.

Adams used to reach office at 8am. When he did not turn up by 10am on Monday, the office staff called the security guard of his house and inquired about him.

After checking, the guard informed his colleagues that the door of his portion was locked from inside. After a while, three officials of the UNIOM came and broke open the door and entered the house and found him lying in a bathroom, the police said, adding his colleagues took him to hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.

The police under the standard operating procedure took the body into the custody.

The police also visited the residence of the UN official and found no sign of resistance in the house. Besides, the police did not find any mark of injuries on the victim’s body.

The Kohsar Police SHO SI Abdul Razaq told Dawn that the body had been taken into custody and kept in the mortuary of a state-run hospital for autopsy.

According to police, the victim was a patient of hyperglycemia.

The SHO said the cause of death would be ascertained after autopsy.
