District health dept’s anti-dengue teams to work in cantt areas also
RAWALPINDI: Cantonment and district administration authorities on Friday decided to jointly work for the elimination of dengue virus as the number of patients continued increasing despite a decrease in the temperature.
This was stated by Additional Deputy Commissioner (general) Saima Younas while reviewing work of different departments regarding the anti-dengue drive in the city and cantonment areas at a meeting.
The meeting was attended by District Health Authority Chief Executive Officer Dr Khalid Mehmood and other officials of the district administration.

Ms Younas said the station commander had allowed the district health teams to also work in the cantonment areas to check the spread of the dengue virus.
She said there should be no boundaries for teams working to eliminate the virus to protect the citizens, adding teams of the RCB and the district administration would be working in all areas.
The meeting was informed that anti-dengue teams of the district heath authority had failed to get permission to work in the cantonment areas but after the grant of permission they started fumigation in areas from where dengue cases had been reported.
More than 284 dengue patients reported to the three government hospitals and a majority of them came from cantonment areas and Tarnol in Islamabad, the meeting was told.
“Over 100 dengue patients arrived at the Holy Family Hospital (HFH) from Islamabad. Dengue patients are still coming to hospitals even in these days which are known as the low transmit season for the dengue virus,” Dr Khalid Mehmood said.
He said the capital administration had been informed about the large number of dengue patients reported from Tarnol. He said the number of teams had been increased in the city and cantonment areas.
During the last week, the anti-dengue teams checked 30,421 houses in cantonment and city areas and found dengue mosquitoes in 619 of them.
He said the teams found dengue mosquitoes at 13 public places. More than 225 teams are working in different union councils and wards of the city and cantonment areas, the official said.
