SIALKOT: Pakistan’s exporters should come forward and explore untapped markets of Nepal to promote bilateral ties between the two countries, said the country’s Ambassador to Pakistan Sewa Lamsal here on Wednesday.

She said Nepal was keen to enhance trade ties with Pakistan by identifying potential opportunities in trade, tourism and business and promoting joint ventures in different sectors.

She was speaking to a gathering of surgical ins­tru­­ments manufactures and exporters held at Surgical Instruments Manu­­­facturers and Exporters Association of Pakistan (SIMAP).

Chairman SIMAP Khalil Ur Rehman and industry leader Muhammad Jehan­gir Bajwa presided over the meeting.

Nepalese ambassador vowed to undertake sincere efforts to boost ties with Pakistan. She also ensured support for Sialkot exporters by allowing them easy access to Nepalese markets.

Lamsal agreed with surgical exporters’ proposal for regular exchange of updated trade information and mutual trade delegations to enhance trade between the two countries.

Jehangir Bajwa said that Sialkot-made surgical instruments can make inroads in the Nepalese market, but he said the main hurdle is direct link between business communities of both countries.

He added that most European countries including, Germany, Italy, France etc and US were exporting Pakistan-made surgical instruments for re-sale in international markets. Chairman SIMAP Khalil Ur Rehman Mughal said that Nepal should focus on direct import of surgical instruments from Pakistan, instead of purchasing from European countries on higher prices.

Earlier, the Nepalese Envoy also visited the several leading surgical instruments manufacturing units in Sialkot. She took keen interest in production processes of surgical instruments as well.
