Pakistan to attend CIIE in Nov

KARACHI: Around 40 top Pakistani exporters will be accompanying Prime Minister Imran Khan to Shanghai to attend the first China International Import Expo (CIIE) being held on November 5-10.

During a pre-departure briefing on Monday, country head and CEO of Bank of China (BoC) Pakistan Operations, Dr Li Tao highlighted the significance of the event. “CIIE aims to give firm support to trade liberalisation, economic globalisation and actively open the Chinese market to the world,” he said. BoC is also the CIIE event organiser.

Dr Tao further said a total of 2,800 companies from over 50 countries will be participating in the expo. Pakistan is invited as a guest of honour to the event.

He added that the event particularly carries significance from Pakistan’s perspective as it will enhance Pakistan’s exports to China and to improve the balance of trade between the two countries.
