Tribal people’s rights

THE tribal people have been deprived of their basic rights since 1978 when the Pakistan government amended the citizenship ordinance. Despite the high illiteracy rate in the former Federally-Administered Tribal Areas (Fata), the criteria for merit for jobs and admission to educational institutions of these people are always higher than those of other districts.

Most Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa people, with Fata domiciles, have been applying for jobs, admission to educational institutions, etc, and getting through easily. Compare to this the tribal people are unable to compete with the KP people because of the gap between the two is of their standard of education.

The Fata Secretariat, the Federal Public Service Commission, the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Public Service Commission and Nadra should scrutinise the requirement of documents to secure the basic rights of the of tribal people.
