Show-cause notice issued to banned Shehzad

LAHORE: Discarded Test opener Ahmed Shehzad, who is currently serving a four-month doping ban, was given a show-cause notice by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Friday to explain why he has played club matches during the period of ban.

“The PCB today issued a show-cause notice to cricketer Ahmed Shehzad to explain why proceedings should not be initiated against him for apparently violating the terms of the agreed sanction agreement entered into with the PCB and the PCB Anti-doping Rules by playing cricket whilst serving a period of ineligibility. Ahmed has been required to respond by or before Oct 25, 2018,” the press release issued by the PCB on Friday stated.

While the four-month ban on right-handed Shehzad is to end on Nov 11, it has been reported that the cricketer has played some club matches, which is against the rules.

Shehzad, 26, was banned after his dope test conducted during a domestic match earlier this year came positive. The batsman admitted the ban as he did not challenge the dope test report.
