Two siblings die as high tension wire falls on them

VEHARI: Two siblings were electrocuted after a power transmission line fell on them at Basti Kalo Wali of Pipli Town, some 10km from here, on Thursday.

Allah Ditta, 9, and his sister, Kiran, 8, were playing in the street in front of their house when an 11kV electricity supply line snapped and fell on them. As a result, both the siblings died on the spot.

Their father, Riaz, termed the Vehari circle officials of the Multan Electric Power Company responsible for the death of his children and demanded registration of a case against them.

Mepco Chief Executive Officer Akram Chaudhry suspended Thingi Sub-Divisional Officer Talha Mahmood and line superintendent Rehan from service for negligence that resulted in the death of children. He also launched an inquiry into the incident.
