KARACHI: Sindh Governor Imran Ismail on Friday assured the students of Dow Dental College (DDC) that he would take up the matter of registration of the college with the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC).
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the 4th All Pakistan DUHS-DICE Health Innovation Exhibition 2018 at Expo Centre Karachi, Governor Ismail said it was a matter of concern that DDC graduates had not been registered with the PMDC yet, and that doctors who spent four years in education and one year in house job were yet to be registered with the PMDC.
“I will take up the matter with the president of Pakistan who is an alumnus of the same college and belongs to the same profession,” a protester told reporters quoting the governor as saying, after their communication with him.
The governor assured the graduates that they would soon be registered with the PMDC and would be able to work as professional very soon.
He further said the Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) was one of the biggest medical institutions in the country and it was surprising that two dental institutions of the DUHS were not registered with the council.
“It will be a big loss for the whole nation if these dental institutions cease to work,” he said.
Earlier, when the governor arrived at Expo Centre, a number of DDC graduates, students and their parents welcomed him by holding banners and placards inscribed with their demands.
