Over 1,000 tested positive for malaria in Bara

LANDI KOTAL: About 1,263 were tested positive for malaria after the laboratory tests conducted in different parts of Bara subdivision during anti-malaria campaign in Khyber tribal district.

The health authorities said that their teams operating in different health units across Bara conducting malaria tests of local residents to identify the infected people.

They said that they were providing on the spot free medication alongside conducting fog sprays in the affected localities to check the spread of malaria. They said that all the affected patients were provided with prompt healthcare and medication.

The officials said that the response of local people in preventing and checking malaria was positive and doctors at private clinics too were cooperating in providing free healthcare services to the affected people.

In Landi kotal, the local administration in collaboration with health authorities organised an awareness session about prevention of measles.

Speaking on the occasion, Assistant Commissioner Mohammad Imran and Unicef representative Dr Qayyum urged the parents to timely vaccinate their children against the dangerous disease of measles.

They said that complete eradication of measles was possible only with timely vaccination of all children.

Mr Imran assured the health teams of full protection during the anti-measles campaign in Landi Kotal.
