From The Past Pages Of Dawn: 1968: Fifty Years Ago: Concentration of wealth

HYDERABAD: Governor Mohammad Musa today said that there was no basis whatsoever in allegations that there has been concentration of wealth in fewer hands and that a small number of families were controlling the economy of the country. “This slogan,” he said, “is aimed at undermining the private initiative in industrialisation and commerce.” The Governor declared that the bold policies and pragmatic approach of the present regime to the national policies had facilitated “our march towards the targets we had set before us.”

The West Governor Pakistan Governor, addressing a luncheon meeting of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Hyderabad, said that all the progress of the past decade was a result of the political stability, coherence of economic policies pursued by the Government and foresighted planning and dedicated execution. He added that the central authority, “strong enough to reject compromises on principles, devoted wholeheartedly to the well-being and prosperity of the people and determined to defend this country against all external and internal threats,” had achieved all the progress in industrial and agricultural sectors… Today, he said, we can stand proudly amongst the comity of nations as one of the fastest developing counties in the world.
