A bridge that does not join ends

SAHIWAL: A bridge has been under construction on the Pakpattan Canal near Dadoowali Wain and Kumhariwala villages for eight years.

The only way left for the residents to cross the canal is a rope-supported boat. Villagers said more than 100 people, including school students, use the boat to reach the other side. They said sometimes the boat got filled with water. Residents demand the completion of the bridge.

Haji Anayat, of Dadoo Wali Wain, told Dawn villagers had to cross the canal as markets, schools and rural health centre are located in Kumhariwala.

He said in the previous tenure of the PML-N, then ruling MNA Mansib Ali Doger failed to get funds allocated for the bridge, and now the area had returned PML-N candidates to assemblies who may not be able to get the funds.

Villagers demanded of the first lady Bushra Imran Khan to look into the matter.
