Police constable wounded in quarrel dies

KARACHI: A police constable, who sustained serious injuries during a quarrel two days ago, died during treatment on Wednesday, police said.

The Jackson police said that Constable Anwar Shah and an unknown rickshaw driver fought with each other near Bismillah Masjid in Gulshan-i-Sikanderabad on Oct 8 over some petty issue.

The rickshaw driver attacked the policeman with a hard and blunt object and fled.

The constable was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), where he died during treatment on Wednesday.

The police claimed that the incident appeared to be an outcome of some personal dispute between the suspect and the victim. The deceased was posted at the Boat Basin police station.

Two held for killing youth in Landhi

Two suspects were arrested for killing a young man in Landhi, police said on Wednesday.

They added that Faraz Shamim, in his early 20s, was targeted near Bagh School in Sector 2/C, Landhi late on Tuesday night.

He was taken to the JPMC, where he died during treatment on Wednesday.

The police termed the murder as an outcome of some personal dispute among relatives. The police registered a case against four suspects and arrested two of them, identified as Shahid alias Kala and Kamran.
