FPCCI criticises lack of representation in CBL

KARACHI: The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) has criticised the PM’s Council of Business Leaders (CBL), citing lack of representation.

In a letter addressed to the Prime Minister Imran Khan, Senior Vice President FPCCI Syed Mazhar Ali Nasir raised objections for ignoring the representation of elected forums at the council.

“The recent step of formation of council of business leaders is a positive step and we do support the idea of involvement of entrepreneurs from all sectors in evolving the government’s economic policies”, read the apex body’s letter.

Lack of representation from FPCCI will hamper the council’s ability to understand the true dynamics of Pakistan’s economy and their viable and sustainable solutions, the letter maintained.

The body’s senior vice president urged the prime minister to revisit the composition of the council and ensure that one-third of the council’s members are selected on recommendation of FPCCI.
