Parachinar man gunned down in Karachi over 'honour', police claim

Police on Friday claimed that the murder of a young driver, hailing from Parachinar, in the Gulshan-i-Iqbal area of Karachi a day earlier was allegedly an act of 'honour' killing.

Irshad Husain, a driver by profession, was shot dead on Thursday evening by armed pillion riders in Block-10 of Gulshan-i-Iqbal near Hakeem Saeed Park while he was travelling in a car.

Gulshan-e-Iqbal Superintendent of Police (SP) Ghulam Murtaza Bhutto on Friday said that the victim had reportedly eloped with an already married woman from his native Parachinar a few years back.

The SP said that the woman had allegedly been killed by her uncle in their native region, whereas, Husain was reportedly being pursued by the family to "redeem their honour".

Police have registered a murder case on the complaint of the deceased driver’s brother, who has nominated the woman's father, uncle and cousin in the case.

Efforts are underway to arrest all the accused, the police added.
