KARACHI: The “Buy from Muslims” campaign launched recently by the President of the Sind Provincial Muslim League, Mr. G.M. Syed, was considered today [Sept 24] by the Working Committee of the Sind Provincial Hindusabha. The meeting recorded its opinion that the movement threatened the peace and tranquillity of the Province by creating disaffection between the communities and appointed a deputation of six members to see the Premier and Ministers in order to get the campaign stopped. The meeting appointed three sub-committees to draw up a programme for the educational, social and economic upliftment of the Hindus of the Province.

[Meanwhile, as reported from Bombay,] “I don’t want this sight before me. We, in Bombay, treat prisoners like human beings,” remarked Mr. Oscar H. Brown, Chief Presidency Magistrate, Esplanade Court when United Province police entered the Court with Nawabsingh Umraosingh, a man who is suspected of having murdered Ramlal, a grocer.

The prisoner had thick iron rings on his feet fastened with a chain, and the whole contraption was fastened with an iron chain tied to the waist. The police explained that the contraption could not be removed without the help of a blacksmith. The Magistrate said that at the next hearing he did not want to witness such a sight.
