Residents protest over boy’s abduction in New Karachi

KARACHI: Residents of New Karachi took to the streets on Tuesday to lodge a protest over alleged kidnapping of a six-year-old boy, police and witnesses said.

They said that the boy, Huzaifa, was playing with other children in a street in the Akbarabad area in Sector 5-E when two men on a motorbike emerged there and took away the child.

“We only came to know about the incident through area people who said other children narrated the story of the kidnapping after witnessing it,” said Bilal Colony SHO Inspector Malik Afzal Baig. “The boy is missing and we have cordoned off all points. We are very much hopeful about the early recovery of the child.”

Meanwhile, the area people along with the family of the boy took to the streets and staged a protest demonstration against the kidnapping.

They chanted slogans and lit bonfire on the main road causing suspension of vehicular traffic. Subsequently, police and Rangers reached the scene to pacify the protesters.

Inspector General of Police Dr Syed Kaleem Imam also took notice of the incident and sought a report from the SSP Central, directing him to take all-out steps to recover the boy.
