30 seminary students hopitalised for food poisoning

KOHAT: As many as 30 students of a seminary located in Jarma area here were hospitalised after eating poisonous food on Sunday.

Sources said that the students of Madressah Maftaul Quran of Jarma on Bannu Road started vomiting and some of them fell unconscious after consuming food. They were taken to the KDA teaching hospital where doctors washed stomachs of some of them. They were discharged from the hospital later. The police registered the case and have launched investigations. The police PRO said that they were investigating whether the food came from outside or was cooked inside the seminary.

DRUG PEDDLERS HELD: Reacting to public complaints, the police launched a crackdown and arrested 15 non-local drug peddlers and seized hashish during operations here on Sunday.

A statement issued from the DPO office said that the operations were conducted in Togh Bala and Behramabad. It said that the detainees belonged to Lachi, Hangu and Malakand and some were drug addicts themselves. The Bilitang police have registered cases against them.

ENTRY PASSES: The cantonment authorities here have started issuing lifetime entry passes to the civilian visitors keeping in view the problems being faced by them. Earlier, the passes for entry to the cantonment were issued for one year and the applicants had to apply again and they got them after prolonged scrutiny.

The local people had been complaining to the station headquarters to find a permanent solution to the problem because the CMH, government offices, educational institutions, The Mall, restaurants, fitness club, bakeries, etc were located in the cantonment.
