Constable killed in road accident

ISLAMABAD: A constable was killed after he was allegedly hit by an official vehicle of former prime minister Raja Pervez Ashraf on Saturday, police said.

The victim was identified as a constable of Rawalpindi police stationed at Police Lines Rawalpindi.

The accident took place on Islamabad Expressway near H-8 pedestrian bridge when a Toyota SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle), bearing a green registration number plate, hit the constable’s motorcycle from the rear.

As a result he suffered multiple injuries and was shifted to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The police shifted the vehicle and the driver to the Aabpara police station.

A senior police officer confirmed the accident and said the vehicle and the driver were in police custody.
