‘No wrongdoing…’

THIS is apropos the news ‘No wrongdoing in Grand Hyatt project, FIA tells SC’ (Sept 15). I have a habit of retaining old news paper cuttings. After reading the report, I dug out from my files a news report ‘AGP rewards auditors in Grand Hyatt case’ (March 20, 2017).

When this news was published, I had wondered why the AGP auditors had been awarded an honorarium for detecting irregularities in the hotel project. Weren’t the staff awarded the special pay not supposed to detect the irregularities in normal course of work? And were they not being paid an adequate salary?

Another query that comes to mind is what about the inconvenience and mental anguish caused to the investors in this project? How does the AGP propose to compensate them for their mistake, and that too in a project located right in the middle of the federal capital?

Will the auditors who detected the irregularities, refund the rewards, since no wrongdoing has been found by the FIA?
