Muharram peace

KOHAT: The Sunni Muttahida Ulema Committee here has announced to keep the voice of sermons on loudspeakers confined to the respective mosques in the best interest of peace as Friday coincides with Ashura.

In this regard, a meeting chaired by district police officer Khalid Sohail was held with ulema belonging to Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat here on Wednesday. They assured full cooperation to the police for holding peaceful Ashura and promoting religious harmony.

The DPO also urged the Shia ulema to observe timings of the processions to avoid any untoward incident.
