One killed, two hurt in accident

TIMERGARA: A 10th grade student of Global Education Academy was killed and two others were injured when a car hit a roadside tree here on Wednesday, police said.

They said that the driver lost control over the wheel due to overspeeding and the car hit a tree at a sharp turn.

Afshan Khan was killed on the spot while his relatives Hammad Khan and Hassan Khan were injured in the accident. The injured were taken to district headquarters hospital in Timergara.

Also in the day, six-year-old Hamza Khan, a resident of Banrgay Talash, was killed when he touched a bare electric wire near his house.

The boy was playing outside his house when he touched the wire of a water pump, residents said.

Meanwhile, Khall police on Wednesday arrested an alleged auto thief and recovered a stolen van from Khwazakhela Swat. SHO Bakht Jamal told journalists that a Suzuki van was lifted from Khall the other day. He said that police traced the car lifter identified as Aziz Bacha, a resident of Rabat Nawagai, with the help of CCTV cameras installed at filling stations.

He said the arrested person confessed to the crime after which the car was recovered from a filling station in Khwazakhela, Swat.

The SHO said that police also arrested 11 proclaimed offenders during the last week and recovered two pistols, two rifles and 1300 gram charas from them.
