Suspected dengue patient dies in Haripur

HARIPUR: A man suspected of having dengue fever died on Friday while over 100 suspects have been hospitalised in different parts of the district over the last two weeks, according to official sources.

Umar Rasheed, 35, a steel welder of B Block Naseem Town, was shifted to hospital with high fever a few days ago, but he could not recover and died on Friday, according to family.

Over 100 patients, including women, have so far been registered as dengue suspects with different private and government hospitals across the district during last two weeks.

Meanwhile, Dr Dildar, deputy medical superintendent of the DHQ hospital, said the victim did not die in a Haripur hospital nor was he confirmed as a dengue patient. “There could be other causes of his death that need to be investigated,” he added.

He said the health department had approached his family for collection of his medical history.

To a question, Dr Dildar said from Sept 3 to 15 a total of 65 patients, including women, were treated for dengue, out of which 10 patients were still under treatment in the dengue ward of the hospital, while eight were referred to Ayub Medical Complex Abbottabad.
