ACE arrests man for land fraud

GUJRANWALA: The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) arrested on Tuesday a person involved in land fraud and registered a case against a police inspector and a sub-inspector.

ACE director Fareed Ahmad told reporters Abdul Jabbar, of Kamoki, moved the ACE that he bought two marlas from Shaukat Kamoki in 2012 at Rs5.4 million. He constructed a four-story house there.

Later, he came to know Shaukat had already sold the same land to another client with the connivance of excise and revenue departments officials.

ACE officials arrested Shaukat, while Tehsildar Ghulam Javed Koreja, Sub-Registrar Rana Suleman and Excise Inspector Rana Gulzar have already been arrested.

Also, Naeem Safdar, of Kotli Manoo Sidhu, submitted an application with the ACE that Alipur Chatha police registered a false case of weapon and took him into custody for three days. Station House Officer Malik Irfan and Sub-Inspector Aasim Shehzad released him after receiving Rs100,000 from him. In an inquiry, both police officials failed to prove their innocence. A case was registered against both police officers.
