Aleem dissatisfied with cleanliness arrangements

LAHORE: Punjab Senior Minister Abdul Aleem Khan has expressed displeasure over the poor cleanliness in certain parts of the city and issued directions to the officials concerned to take required measures.

“If cleanliness does not come up to the mark within three days, those responsible will not only be suspended from service but also proceeded against under the departmental rules and regulations,” he warned.

Chairing a meeting at Chief Minister’s Secretariat on Monday, Mr Khan asked the solid waste management company and local government department officials to ensure proper cleanliness in every union council.

“The performance of companies is not up to the mark and there are many complaints,” he said and added that lethargy and negligence would not be acceptable.

Abdul Aleem Khan said he would himself monitor the situation and action would be taken against the responsible.

Meanwhile, the Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) has finalised its plan to maintain cleanliness in the city during Muharramul Haram with focus on mourning processions’ routes etc.

“The LWMC has issued instructions to take Turkish companies, Albayrak and Ozpak, into confidence for smooth execution of the plan especially for mechanical sweeping and washing of imambargahs, procession routes and surround areas of mourning sessions. Special camps will be set up on sensitive and central locations in various towns particularly at Allama Iqbal Town and Data Ganj Bakhsh Town to facilitate the public,” said a spokesman for the LWMC in a press release.
