Two suspects in Pims doctor assault case arrested
ISLAMABAD: Two of four suspects who had allegedly assaulted a lady doctor of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) have been arrested by the Karachi Company Police.
Four attendants of a 60-year-old female patient, beat a lady doctor on the evening of Sept 8 in the Medical Ward VI.
According to the FIR, Postgraduate Resident General Medicine Dr Saira Tahir, who was an eight-month pregnant, received a head injury during the incident.
Moreover, suspects used abusive language against her and tried to destroy the government property.
Executive Director Pims Dr Raja Amjad said it was an unfortunate incident as one of the suspects was a dental doctor by profession, though was not a Pims employee.
“I believe that one of the suspects was mentally sick because he not only used abusive language against a woman but also beat her. However, we are pursuing the case and will ensure punishment to the culprits,” he said.
