Gas tariff

PRIME Minister Imran Khan has taken drastic decisions to bring reforms in institutions and took austerity measures. He has now approved a 46 per cent increase in the gas tariff as recommended by Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra).

To lift the economy and generate revenue, the leadership has to take this hard decision. But it should also take punitive actions to stop Rs50 billion gas theft.

New gas reserves should be explored while keeping open the options of Tajikistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline and the Pakistan-Iran gas pipeline.
