Imran’s task

THE people have great hopes from Imran Khan, Pakistan’s 22nd Prime Minister. Let us hope and pray that he and his team show performance in the first 100 days to gain the people’s confidence.

There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparedness, hard work and learning from mistakes. There are four segments of any society most crucial for the development of a nation. These are: parents, teachers, policemen and judiciary.

Parents mould the character of their children through personal examples at home. A dedicated teacher imparts knowledge to his/her students to become good human beings and responsible citizens. A policeman protects the life, property and honour of all citizens, and a judge dispenses justice according to law.

The newly elected PTI government can succeed only with good governance, tactfully handling all issues with caution and far sight, and eradicating corruption.

Imran Khan should the example of Dr Mahathir Mohammad, the great Malaysian leader, who during his first rule of 22 years transformed the country into a well-developed state, and has been re-elected after 12 years of retirement to get rid of the menace of corruption at an enviable age of 93.
