PESHAWAR: The Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry will give a roadmap to the newly-elected federal and provincial governments under which concrete proposals would be prepared to amicably resolve the issues of business community.

It will also raise the community’s issues before the relevant standing committees of the National Assembly and Senate.

SCCI president Zahidullah Shinwari said this while presiding over a meeting of the executive committee here at the chamber house here on Thursday.

The chamber’s senior vice-president Mohammad Naeem Butt, vice-president Niaz Mohammad Awan, Ziaul Haq Sarhadi and senior businessmen attended the meeting.

On this occasion, Mr Shinwari floated the proposal for using legal option against levy of gas infrastructure development cess. He said that new gas connections and load-related issues were being faced so it was necessary to move the court.

In this regard, he sought the support of the provincial government.

He urged Prime Minister Imran Khan and federal ministers to hold an immediate meeting at the chamber’s level.

He said that SCCI had made contacts with the government for resolution of the community’s issues. He assured the government that the business community would work together with it for resolution of all issues.

The SCCI chief said that the country’s annual imports stood at around $56 billion compared to $20 billion exports. He said that the government should take measures for boosting exports to strengthen the national economy.

Mr Shinwari appreciated Corps Commander, Peshawar, Lt-Gen Nazir Ahmad Butt for resolution of issues concerning quarantine certificate and collection of regulatory duty at Torkham border in the light of SCCI recommendations.

He lauded the successful conduct of investment opportunities conference and Business Excellence Award in Istanbul, Turkey, in which investors showed keen interest in making investments in various potential sectors of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
