NAB seeks WCLA record

LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has launched a probe against Walled City of Lahore Authority Director General Kamran Lashari and Director Shahid Nadeem for causing a loss of millions to the national exchequer in different projects.

In a letter to the Punjab chief secretary, the NAB has sought record of some projects of the authority in which construction of high-rise buildings as well as underground constructions in the old city were allowed in violation of by-laws and millions of rupees were embezzled which were allocated for protection of old buildings and no concrete steps were taken for the protection of these buildings.

Meanwhile, former Punjab minister Khwaja Salman Rafique appeared before the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in connection with the Paragon Housing Society case.

According to a NAB official, investigators quizzed Mr Rafique regarding the exchange of 50-kanal piece of land with developed plots measuring 40 kanal in the Paragon Housing Society through an agreement.
