‘Police manpower in Lakki to be enhanced’

LAKKI MARWAT: Regional police officer, Bannu, Karim Khan has said that a proposal to increase manpower and improve police infrastructure will be sent to the provincial government to overcome deficiency in the district.

He was talking to a group of mediapersons at the district headquarters complex, Tajazai, on Tuesday. District police officer Asif Gohar and SP Shafiq Wazir were also present on this occasion.

The regional police chief also spoke to area elders, members of peace committee and religious scholars and visited the routes of mourners’ processions in Lakki city to check security arrangements for Muharram.

He said that the project to set up a model police station in Lakki city was in the pipeline while efforts were underway to settle land dispute of the police station in Naurang town.

He asked the Lakki district police authorities to activate peace bodies at the police station level and seek help from elders for maintenance of peace and eradication of crimes.

Karim Khan said that the police were also making efforts to stop crimes against children and women and use of ice drug.

“I personally look into the cases pertaining to abuse and murder of children and women with focus on taking to task the culprits involved in such crimes,” he claimed. He said that posters highlighting messages against harmful effects of drugs would be displayed while awareness sessions would be held in colleges.
