GB CM’s degree challenged

GILGIT: The educational degree of Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Hafeezur Rehman was challenged in the GB Supreme Appellate Court on Friday.

The petitioner, Pakistan Peoples Party’s GB chapter senior vice president Jamil Ahmad, has requested the region’s top court to disqualify the chief minister as member of the GB Assembly as his education degree was fake.

Through his counsel Malik Kifayatul Rehman, Mr Ahmad said in the petition that the educational degree submitted by the chief minister during the election on a technocrat seat in GBLA in 2009 was fake.

The petition argued that as the chief minister was not Sadiq and Ameen (honest and truthful), he, should, therefore, be removed from the post as he stood disqualified.

The respondents in the case are GB chief minister and the Wafaq-ul-Madaris.
