UC vice chairman booked for felling trees, stealing logs

TOBA TEK SINGH: Gojra Saddar police on Friday registered a case against a union council vice chairman for felling trees and stealing logs from a rural veterinary hospital located in his village, Chak 178-GB, Gohga.

A first information report registered on the complaint of Assistant Veterinary Officer Muhammad Ilyas stated that Muhammad Azeem felled several trees along with two accomplices, Muhammad Sharif and Taj Muhammad, and stole the wood.

No arrests were made till the filing of this report.

INJURED: An 11-year-old boy was critically wounded when a wall fell on him in Chak 419-JB on Friday during rain.

Witnesses said Sajjad Masih was sitting near a wall when it suddenly collapsed due to rain, injuring him severely. He was rushed to Gojra THQ hospital by villagers where his condition was stated to be critical.

CELEBRATION: Hundreds of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) activists came out on the streets across the district, dancing to drumbeat and celebrating the election of Imran Khan as prime minister. They raised slogans and played party songs.

A number of motorcycle rallies were also taken out by youths who were wearing PTI flags as bandanas. In the grain market here outside the office of PTI Vice President Chaudhry Muhammad Ashfaq, sweets were distributed among people who had gathered there after Khan’s election. Crackers were also fired in jubilation.
