WSSP chalks out plan for waste disposal on Eid

PESHAWAR: The Water and Sanitation Services Peshawar (WSSP) will set up 43 temporary waste storage points in addition to regular containers across Peshawar in order to ensure cleanliness during Eidul Azha.

In a statement here on Friday, WSSP urged the citizens to deposit the animal waste and offal at the designated points in order to ensure cleanliness especially around mosques and in populated areas. The WSSP claimed that it would make special arrangements for solid waste management and its activities would focus on prompt collection, storage, transportation and disposal of animal waste during the three days of Eid.

It said that all staff of WSSP would remain on duty during the Eid days to provide efficient services to the people of Peshawar. It would also establish camps/complaint cell in each zone of Peshawar to efficiently coordinate cleanliness activities in the respective union councils as well.

It was stated that awareness material would be distributed among the citizens for effective social mobilisation. A control room will be established at the WSSP head office for ensuring smooth operations during the Eid days.

WSSP would display about 400 banners in Peshawar city to seek citizens’ support for the workers of civic body. It would deploy its own and private machinery, including dumpers, tractor trolleys, vans and shovels for quick disposal of animal waste.
