Call for proper maintenance of filtration plants

ISLAMABAD: The residents of the federal capital have called upon the authorities concerned to ensure proper maintenance of water filtration plants in different sectors which were not working properly.

Ahmed Raza of G-7 said: “Many water filtration plants are broken and having leaking taps. As a result, a huge amount of water is wasted daily.”

Other residents said water filtration plants in F-6, G-6, G-7, I-10 and I-8 Sitara Market were in dilapidated conditions.

“Official timing of water supply is from 10am to 10pm but the residents are facing water shortage during this time.”

A resident of I-10, Faheem Ahmed, said: “I have to wait in long queues to get water as only two taps are operational in the water filtration plant of my area.”

Fawad Khan, of F-6, said: “Due to negligence of the authorities concerned, water filtration plants installed at various sectors are neither repaired nor their filters replaced on a regular basis.”

The residents urged the authorities to take immediate measures for the provision of clean drinking water to them through the maintenance of the plants.

A senior official of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) said teams were being deployed in sectors on a weekly basis to check the filtration plants.
