CS orders removal of encroachments

KARACHI: Chief Secretary Sindh retired Major Azam Suleman Khan presided over an important meeting, which resolved to remove the encroachments from all parks, markets, and roads of Karachi, under instructions from the Supreme Court of Pakistan. The meeting was briefed about the implementation status of the Supreme Court’s orders.

The chief secretary asked the authorities to remove the offices of government departments and political parties illegally constructed in parks, and called for a report within two days to this effect. Chief secretary ordered that illegal billboards, marriage halls, and encroachments from the roads and footpaths of the commercial areas and markets should also be removed without further delay. He noted that Empress Market, Taj Medical Centre, Auto Market on M.A. Jinnah Road should also be cleared of encroachments.

The chief secretary stressed the need to remove encroachments in accordance with the rules and regulations; all institutions/agencies ie KMC, DMCs, Cantonment Board, SBCA and Anti-Encroachment Forces must play their role to eradicate this menace jointly. He maintained that the commissioner Karachi will perform his role as focal person, in this regard.
