Power protesters block road in Karak

KARAK: The residents of Nari Panos, Dagar Nari, Totaki and other adjacent localities took to the streets and blocked the main road here on Wednesday to protest prolonged power loadshedding across the district.

The protestors, led by Sawab Gul, marched to the road and blocked it to traffic at Dagar Nari. They complained about 20 hours-long power loadshedding. They said that they were deprived of gas and electricity.

The protesters said that women and children suffered in the scorching heat without electricity as they could not go out of the houses. They said that power loadshedding caused shortage of drinking water in the areas.

They said that government failed to materialise its tall claims about providing relief to people from power loadshedding. They demanded of the authorities to observe loadshedding according to schedule.

Meanwhile, the residents of Ghundi Mir Khankhel have demanded of the district government and newly elected MPA Mian Nisar Gul Kakakhel to repair the main road and link roads washed away by the recently monsoon rain.

The demand was made by the local people including Zarif Khan, Saadat Gul, Khairullah and Zahoor Khan during a visit of the local journalists to the affected areas here on Tuesday.

The elders of the area said that the main Niazi Well-Palosa Sar Road was damaged by the monsoon rain and all the link roads of Alikhel, Tarkikhel, Badeenkhel, Daraki Banda, Gul Shahkhel and Zarakhel were washed away.

They said that local people repaired the roads on self-help basis but they could not maintain quality of work as it needed huge funds.
