Petty dispute claims six lives in Charsadda

CHARSADDA: Six people, including two women, were killed and three others wounded in exchange of fire between two families of close relatives over a domestic tangle in Rajar area here on Sunday.

According to police and local residents, two families of cousins opened fire on each other after arguing over a petty issue. As a result, three brothers, Sabir Shah, Anwar Ali Shah, Ahmed Ali Shah, and their sister-in-law were killed from one side, while Qalandar Shah and his wife died from the other.

The injured Syed Tajdar Ali Shah and a 10-year-old girl from the neighbourhood were among the three injured, who were shifted to a hospital in Peshawar in critical condition.

Cross FIRs were registered with Charsadda city police.

Saeed Khan, whose three sons were killed, lodged case against Hassan Ali Shah, Tajdar Ali Shah, and Qalandar Ali, while injured Tajdar nominated Sabir Ali Shah, Anwar Ali Shah, Ahmed Shah, and their father, Saeed in the FIR.

The police arrested Saeed and injured Tajdar while another accused, Hassan Ali Shah managed to escape after the incident.

Later, funeral prayers of the deceased were offered who were laid to rest amid moving scenes.

The police said several jirgas were held to resolve the dispute between the two families, but in vain.
