From The Past Pages Of Dawn: 1968: Fifty Years Ago: Lyari social work praised

KARACHI: Social Work done in Lyari under the various Community development projects was commended at the fourth session of the Social Welfare week in Karachi on Saturday [Aug 3].

The week is being held by the Social Welfare Directorate to celebrate the Decade of Development.

The KMC Chairman, Mr Pervaiz Ahmed Butt, who presided over the session, assured that the Corporation would continue to play its part in catering to the growing needs of the City’s old part of Lyari.

Earlier, welcoming the chief guest, Haji Pir Mohammad, President, Lyari Development Projects Co-ordinating Council, expressed the local people’s gratitude over the present regime’s notable achievements in social and economic spheres.

At the session, the representatives of the Karachi Development Authority, Karachi Education Directorate and the KMC presented reports on their respective performances for the development of the Lyari area. — Correspondent
