Banned outfits

ACCORDING to news reports, Chaudhry Ghulam Sarwar, a PTI leader, went to the residence of Muavia Azam Tariq, an MPA from Jhang, to seek his support for the formation of the PTI’s government in Punjab. This person was earlier affiliated with the banned extremist and terrorist organization, Lashkar-i-Jhangvi.

The LJ has been accused of being involved in the killing of thousands of innocent people of Pakistan. After the death of Malik Ishaq and other members of his gang in an encounter with the police, Tariq joined another militant outfit . He is reported to have been instrumental in fanning the flames of sectarian hatred in Jhang in particular and the rest of the Punjab in general.

Despite these facts Mr Sarwar meeting an extremist MPA for the sake of his support does not look kosher for a big party like the PTI. Imran Khan must explain his party’s policy in this regard.
