KARACHI: Dr. Hemandas Wadhwani, Public Health Minister, who has initiated talks for a League Sabha understanding with Mr. Jinnah and who is proceeding to Bombay next week to meet Mr Savarkar has issued the following statement to the Press:- “I am fully convinced that a Congress-League Pact is possible and practicable ... The object of Hindu-Muslim unity is that there should be perfect internal peace in India. The moment we get internal peace, we should consider ourselves to have achieved true Hindu-Muslim unity.

“To bring about real and lasting peace in India there are two alternatives, namely either we should have one organisation representing both Hindus and Muslims of India or both Hindus and Muslims should be represented by two separate organisations so that both could jointly say that they represented the whole of India. The Congress has chosen the first course. But will Congress succeed in this? Can they ever bring both Hindus and Muslims together into one organisation?

“It looked possible in pre-League days but in my opinion we have now reached a stage that it is impossible that the Congress could represent both Hindus and Muslims at any time hereafter. Naturally, therefore, the second alternative is the only solution for our salvation, Hindus and Muslims, must under the circumstances, join their respective organisations.
