PPDC case: Shahbaz skips NAB hearing

LAHORE: PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif on Monday did not appear before the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in the Punjab Power Development Company (PPDC) corruption case.

“Neither Shahbaz Sharif nor any of his representative appeared before the NAB on Monday in connection with the PPDC case,” an official source told Dawn.

He said the bureau might issue another notice to Mr Sharif in this regard. Early this month he had appeared before a combined investigation team of NAB Lahore in the Punjab Saaf Pani Company (PSPC) and PPDC scams and replied to the questions of the investigators.

In a notice to Mr Sharif in PPDC case, the NAB had said: “The inquiry against the management and officials of the PPDC has revealed that you (Shahbaz Sharif) are in possession of of information/evidence related to unlawful appointment of Syed Farukh Ali Shah in Nepra as member and PPDC as chief executive officer.”

Shahbaz son-in-law Ali Yousaf is also facing NAB corruption inquiries in both PPDC and PSPC. The bureau has written to the interior ministry to bring him back through Interpol.
